This game made my brain collapse…
June 14th, 2009 Posted 8:07 pm
… Right before the skydiving, Lorien showed me this fantastic video game called Braid. I’ve installed the demo (wohoo! it plays on Mac!) and even playing just the demo, I feel like my mind can’t possibly grasp the sort of time warping this game requires just to access stupidly obvious puzzle pieces!
It’s so different than anything else I’ve played before. It’s so frustratingly simple. It’s totally awesome.
Go download it. Now.

I’m considering getting a facebook account just so I can find my high school good friend with whom I spent hours reading Uncanny X-Men so that we can sigh over Gambit once more together. But thanks to my “facebook proxy accounts” I know that either she got a face lift, 2 children and moved to Vancouver or she isn’t on either. Darn.
On a completely different subject, Jason got me addict on a fantastic game on the iPod touch that is just like Risk: Lux Touch. I played so much in the last 24 hours that I drained my battery. (of course the battery died in the bus right when I was about to annihilate everyone) I’m also very pleasantly surprised by the ease of the controls considering Risk isn’t a very simple game. So I foresee that within a week I will get off the bus 3 stations too far exponentially more often than I do now.

Now my credit card is RUINED. All because someone sent me a link on Jabber to see if the site was down for me. Now I’ve learned of the existence of The Escapist store
At least it was a link to a pretty good comic. I’m going to forgive him.

Iconic music

When I went to my brother’s house two weeks ago and played Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 with my two nieces, I was rather shocked to see my 6 year old niece sing along to (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction by The Rolling Stones. And when I say sing along, I mean, sing every single lyric in near perfect pitch and everything! As far as it is posisble to understand actual words when the rabbits sing, obviously.
Anyway, now it’s fueled a mission : make the absolute Rock Playlist so that my nephew and nieces have a decent musical education. Some of my genes are there too, I feel responsible! Besides, I’m an aunt. I’m not there to tell them off if they don’t say please, oh wait I do that too…
So far I already have 2 hours with only the songs I already had on my computer, and when I made my list I was amazed at how little songs I own myself. Hopefully after all this I will also happen to have the complete Supernatural Roadtrip Set!

Procrastination

Since there is nothing like finding any excuse to not do something, I found myself going over Apple to watch movie trailers this morning. There are some movies that I’m impatient to see and I want to see if there is a new video out, there are also movies I didn’t even know existed yet. There are also movies I despise but still want to indulge in some watching.
First there is Star Trek, which looks really nice with a nice mix of explosions and geekspeak and a big nostalgic factor. And the special effects look real, which is usually a very difficult argument for me because I can spot a green screen with my eyes closed.
Then I was surprised to find a sequel for Night at the Museum. I loved watching the first one, I can sense I will love the second one. From the trailer it seems like there is a special exhibition so that the collection of the New York museum is going to Washington… so we keep the same adorable characters, add more and change the scenery. All good. Now if only they could write the date instead of “Memorial Day” which means nothing for anyone outside of the united-states… bah
But what really shocked me enough to warrant a post? I’m not even going to spoil the surprise. Click here damnit and come cry with me. All I can say is that next, we’ll have a movie based on Les Cités d’Or. I can see it coming : out of this word 3D special effects, Zia will be played by Natalie Portman and it will bring on peace on earth through international nostalgic reactions of childhood comics.
…oh yeah right, I said also there were some indulgence and shaming movies… Well I keep making fun of Street Fighter : the Legend of Chun Li but I swear I will go see it in theaters. It just looks THAT BAD.
