Procrastination
February 22nd, 2009 Posted 1:16 pm
Since there is nothing like finding any excuse to not do something, I found myself going over Apple to watch movie trailers this morning. There are some movies that I’m impatient to see and I want to see if there is a new video out, there are also movies I didn’t even know existed yet. There are also movies I despise but still want to indulge in some watching.
First there is Star Trek, which looks really nice with a nice mix of explosions and geekspeak and a big nostalgic factor. And the special effects look real, which is usually a very difficult argument for me because I can spot a green screen with my eyes closed.
Then I was surprised to find a sequel for Night at the Museum. I loved watching the first one, I can sense I will love the second one. From the trailer it seems like there is a special exhibition so that the collection of the New York museum is going to Washington… so we keep the same adorable characters, add more and change the scenery. All good. Now if only they could write the date instead of “Memorial Day” which means nothing for anyone outside of the united-states… bah
But what really shocked me enough to warrant a post? I’m not even going to spoil the surprise. Click here damnit and come cry with me. All I can say is that next, we’ll have a movie based on Les Cités d’Or. I can see it coming : out of this word 3D special effects, Zia will be played by Natalie Portman and it will bring on peace on earth through international nostalgic reactions of childhood comics.
…oh yeah right, I said also there were some indulgence and shaming movies… Well I keep making fun of Street Fighter : the Legend of Chun Li but I swear I will go see it in theaters. It just looks THAT BAD.

Also, I never translated the Europe travel blog…
February 20th, 2009 Posted 12:38 pm
On the phone last night I also noticed that I only translated about 4 blog posts from this summer’s travel across Europe. So please forgive me, and poke me about in 3 months when I still won’t have done it.

a night on the phone
February 20th, 2009 Posted 10:05 am
Yesterday night my phone rang twice all the way from Australia and I was unreasonably accused of sounding “drunk” and later “hungover” when I spoke in English. Clearly it’s a case of the pot calling the kettle black : we’re talking about an Australian young man who plans to drink wine each time someone says the word “thank” in a 10 minutes wedding speech. It’s just begging for disaster if you ask me. (Also, now I have a nagging thought at the back of my head that being invited to his wedding will provide stories to last me a lifetime…)
So, let’s open a poll : do I sound drunk in English? Provide the best proof and I’ll send you a postcard
You will be graded on the logic of your argumentation or your overall creativity.

Ok so I bought a ‘450′ winter coat…
February 14th, 2009 Posted 1:55 pm
- Hopefully this means I’ll never be sick like this again
- Wonderful coyote warmth goodness
I went shopping for a new winter coat today. It was during their annual sale too, so I was lucky. I absolute LOVE the new coat, it’s warm, comfortable, pretty and did I mention warm? Very very very warm. But not too warm to wear indoors skipping about the house. Not that I would do that. It would be preposterous of me to do so, I’m a responsible mature 25 years old professional woman.
Riiiiiiight. Skipping about the house it is! I even named the coyote fur. His name is Jasper. I have no idea why.
p.s. the name of the coat is Blainville. Silly suburbia.

Shiny! New blogity
February 12th, 2009 Posted 8:28 pm
Well, I’m finally a member of thegeekcartel.com
My old blog collapsed after a year long hiatus, and upon my return suffered a sort of bug with closed off comments and unresponsive code. I decided to take the opportunity to start off fresh, I’ll slowly be integrating my archives. I can’t wait to chose a new theme and looking through plugins.
I guess you know what I’ll be doing all day tommorow if I still have a too high fever to go to work… It really bugs me majorly that I only worked Monday of this week on my second week of work, but I can’t really bring a pneumonia to work and infect everyone either. I only wish it had happened (if at all! ) later so I would feel less totally hopeless.

Wow! I remembered my password!
February 2nd, 2009 Posted 7:55 pm
I have to admit that it has been a rather long time since I updated… and I also had to try 4 times to get my password right. But big news required a blog entry, especially big news I don’t feel like retelling to everyone separately while I have no voice.
I started my new job today! Booya! I have a shiny new cool access card with a swishy line to it so I can open doors and go to the bathroom. It makes me feel pretty hot-shot. So does my 24 inch iMac, more shiny than the neon lighting.
All in all, I still have no clue what exactly I’ll be working on there. I met my supervisor, who showed me around and then disapeared after telling me to explore the intranet and read this book of the Scrum method. Well 8 hours later, I had finished the book, still had no email or password and it was time to head home.
All I know is that I’m a Web Integrator in a new (one woman team so far) of User eXperience… it sounds like a lot of potential but so far it was a pretty easy day. I like the idea of being paid to read a book. Too bad it wasn’t fiction.
